What is the Support at Home program?
The Support at Home (SaH) program is an Australian Government program. This program replaces the Home Care Packages (HCP) program and the Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Programme from November 1st, 2025.
To learn more about this program as a participant, please visit resources developed by the Government.
The SaH program can help you access tailored support services to live comfortably at home. It is designed with multiple funding levels that are matched to your needs and has funding pathways for restorative care and end-of-life care.
SaH is designed for older Australians whose needs are higher and more complex than what can be met by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
If you need coordinated assistance with everyday tasks or have more intensive care requirements, SaH could be the right solution for you.
Who is eligible for Support at Home program?
All SaH participants must register with My Age Care and undergo an aged care assessment that determines their eligibility and funding.
Eligible SaH participants will receive a Notice of Decision and support plan that will outline their funding classification and approved services.
Participants will be required to complete an income and assets assessment, and for most clients this is completed by Services Australia. The income and assets assessment determines the level of fee contribution you would be responsible for when opting for Government subsided care.
DACS can guide you through the process of obtaining a My Aged Care referral if needed.
