DACS offers flexible respite services to support carers by providing short-term care for the person they support, either in the home or out in the community.
This gives carers time to rest, attend appointments, or take a break, while knowing their loved one is receiving safe, understanding, and person-centred care.
We provide in-home day respite and individual community access respite, tailored to suit you or your loved one’s needs. A DACS support worker can come to your home to provide care and companionship, allowing the primary carer to step away for a few hours. Community access respite offers supported outings and social experiences, helping people stay active, connected, and engaged with their local community.
Flexible respite support may include:
- Companionship and daytime care in your own home
- Supported time in the community, such as attending church, taking part in a day program, or visiting a Meals on Wheels community restaurant
